Ajax Under 17 has made an impressive start in the ABN AMRO Future Cup. In the tournament’s opening game, coach Frank Peereboom’s team defeated Schalke’04 by 4-0. Donyell Malen was the big scorer, with two goals.
They had been anticipating the start of the Future Cup for weeks, and today at eleven thirty, the opening whistle finally blew. Ajax Under 17 faced Schalke ’04 in the opening match. Whoever may have thought that the under 17 talents would be nervous, was wrong. Coach Frank Peereboom’s team made short work of their German counterparts.
With fresh reinforcement Carel Eiting on board, Ajax opened very well. In the sixteenth minute, the Amsterdam team took the lead thanks to a goal by Donyell Malen. The centre forward didn’t have much trouble with his opponents. The teams retreated at halftime with this score.
It didn’t take long into the second half for the ball to find itself behind Schalke ‘04’s keeper. Reda Boultam took advantage of a rebound after the keeper hadn’t gotten the shot under control: 0-2. Ajax built the lead into an outstanding 4-0 win. Malen once again and Mees de Wit provided the team with an excellent start to the tournament.
