Ajax has reached an agreement with Boureima Hassane Bandé and KV Mechelen for the forward’s transfer next summer. In Amsterdam the Burkina Faso native signed a contract that takes effect on July 1, 2018, and runs for five seasons, until June 30, 2023.
Bandé was born on October 30, 1998, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Prior to arriving at KV Mechelen, in July 2017, he had been playing for Salitas FC Ouagadougou in his home country. Bandé has played in 15 official games to date for KV Mechelen, scoring 9 goals. On November 14, 2017, he made his debut in Burkina Faso’s national team.
“I’m very pleased with the transfer, because athletically speaking, it’s a step forward”, says Bandé. “But first, I have a mission with KV Mechelen. I’m grateful for the opportunities that I’ve received and I want to finish off the season successfully. Now that I’ve signed in Amsterdam, my next step is clear, and I can focus completely on KV Mechelen. After the summer, I’ll be focusing on Ajax and developing myself more there, and being successful with Ajax.”
Player policy director Marc Overmars: “We’ve been following Bandé for a while, and we’re not the only ones. We needed to act quickly, but we also wanted to do our homework first. We managed everything. I’m happy that he’s signed, even though he won’t arrive in Amsterdam until next season. He’s just 19 years old and a big talent, and in Mechelen he’s been playing on the flank a lot, but he can play in forward positions too. A goal-oriented and threatening player. I think that, with our fans, we’re going to enjoy watching him.”
