A number of Ajax players saw action with their countries' national teams in qualifying matches for Euro 2004 on Wednesday. Chivu (Romania) and Bergdølmo (Norway) met in Oslo and sared the points, Galásek won convincingly with the Czech Republic. Pasanen and Litmanen could not help Finland to a victory.
Norway drew with Romania in Oslo: 1-1. The visitors took the lead after an hour through a goal by Ganea. Solskjaer beat Bogdan Lobont from the penalty spot, after referee Michel had punished Ajax player Cristian Chivu for a hand ball. Apart from the hand ball, Chivu was on great form leading the Romanian defence. With a good interception he prevented an early goal by Solskjær. Andre Bergdølmo, Chivu and Lobont played the entire match.
Jari Litmanen and Petri Pasanen were unable to prevent that Totti and Del Piero scored for Italy: 0-2. Both Ajax players were on the pitch for 90 minutes.
Tomás Galásek defeated Moldova with the Czech Republic: 5-0. Galásek played the entire match.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic could not play with Sweden because of a groin injury. His national team still defeated Poland with 3-0.
