The BeNe League was successfully kicked off on Tuesday. In the KV Mechelen stadium, the sixteen clubs coming from the highest level of Dutch and Belgian football were presented to the press. The afternoon ended with the BeNe Supercup between ADO Den Haag and Standard Luik.
Eight Dutch and eight Belgian teams gathered on Tuesday in KV Mechelen’s stadium for the official launch of the BeNe League. The teams posed for the team picture and portraits and afterwards, the media got the opportunity to interview the coach and one player from each club. Ajax player Anouk Hoogendijk and Daphne Koster stood by Ed Engelkes for the interviews.
After the official presentation of all teams on the field, everyone prepared for the BeNe League Supercup between the Dutch and Belgian national champions. ADO Den Haag and Standard Luik thus gave the official kick off for the new season.
The eight teams representing the Netherlands in the BeNe League are: Ajax, ADO Den Haag, PSV/FC Eindhoven, FC Twente, PEC Zwolle, FC Utrecht, sc Heerenveen and Telstar. The Belgian clubs are: RSC Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Standard Fémina de Liège, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, SV Zulte-Waregem, K. Lierse SK, ST-Truidens VV and K. Beerschot AC.
The eight Dutch clubs play until December 22 in the subsidiary competition ‘BeNe League Orange’. The Belgian clubs will play in ‘BeNe League Red’. After the winter break, the first four teams of each national competition will continue under the name Women’s BeNe League A, while the last four will continue the competition in the Women’s BeNe League B.
