Preparations for the AEGON Future Cup are in full swing. The third edition will take place during Easter 2012. The international tournament for B-juniors will be held from Friday, April, to Sunday, April 9, at de Toekomst. FC Barcelona is the second club to confirm its presence.
In addition to FC Barcelona, host Ajax B1 and FC Bayern München will also participate in the AEGON Future Cup. Two years ago, Barca U-17 also attended. Ajax A1 will soon face several players from that team. Ajax’s A-juniors will meet Barcelona in the NextGen Series quarterfinals.
The AEGON Future Cup is a unique tournament in which young players can measure themselves, as individual players and with their team, against other top clubs from abroad. The organization is doing its best to attract the big clubs’ Under-17 teams to Amsterdam to compete against, among others, Ajax B1.
It’s clear that the Future Cup hosts big talents. For example, Davy Klaassen was voted best player in the first edition. And, one and a half years after that tournament, he’s already made his debut in the UEFA Champions League, at the highest level.
