Atlético Madrid have taken the lead in the LG Amsterdam Tournament. The Spanish side defeated Lazio Roma by 3-1 and now has six points.
But coach Javier Aguirre's team is by no means certain of the overall victory in the tournament. Ajax and Arsenal both won five points on the first day and face each other for the first prize.
Atlético and Lazio made it an attractive match in the ArenA. Atlético took the lead six minutes before halftime, when Braulio Rodriguez touched in a free kick from the right side by the second post.
In the second half, the Italians upped the pressure, but again Atlétic scored. Luis Garcia fired in the ball from 20 yards out in the 66th minute. Stefano Mauri answered a minute later on behalf of Lazio, but three more minutes later José Antonio Reyes decided the match: 3-1.
