After a convincing win against the Danish team Lyngby (5-1), Ajax played its second friendly game in Portugal to a 1-1 draw against MSV Duisburg. Newcomer Kaj Sierhuis scored the Ajax goal.
In the first half, Ajax and Duisburg were both tentative. Without having created any big opportunities, the Germans took the lead after about 20 minutes. Deyovaisio Zeefuik unfortunately sent the ball past keeper Kostas Lamprou: 0-1.
Both teams seemed more comfortable in the second half, and more opportunities were created on each side. Fifteen minutes before time, the Germans were awarded a penalty shot by the Portuguese referee, due to a foul by Zeefuik. Zlatko Janjic took the shot on behalf of Duisburg, poised to change the score to 0-2, but his shot was beautifully saved by Kostas Lamprou.

Several minutes later, substitute Noa Lang was sent in deep on the right. Lang made an excellent pass to Kaj Sierhuis, another substitute, who, in his unofficial debut for Ajax, shot the ball past keeper Daniel Davari: 1-1.
