Ajax has signed two youth players, Django Warmerdam (2 September 1995) and Aschraf El Mahdioui (24 May 1996) have reached agreements with the club. Both midfielders’ contracts are effective for two years, until June 30, 2016. Both contracts include an option for Ajax to extend for one more year, until June 30, 2017.
Warmerdam has been playing in Ajax’s youth academy since 2003. He’ll join the selection of the Ajax Reserves this season. El Mahdioui played in Ajax’s academy last season. Previously, he was with the juniors from A.V.V. Zeeburgia. This is both players’ first contract.
“I’m very happy with this agreement”, says attacking midfielder Warmerdam. “I’ve been playing at Ajax since I was seven years old, and signing this contract eleven years later is a reward for all of that hard work. I’ve developed in the past year and now I have this opportunity to grow even more. I want to be physically stronger next year and I hope to make my Jupiler League debut as soon as possible. Eventually, I would like to play in Ajax’s first team, naturally.”
Aschraf El Mahdioudi has been having some great weeks. Recently selected as Talent of the Toekomst, he signed his first contract on Tuesday. “This contract shows that Ajax has faith in me”, says the creative midfielder, who will start with the U19 this season. “I think I’ve taken steps last year and hope to continue doing that. I’m good with both feet, have good technique, and can get someone in front of the goal with a good cross-pass. In terms of running and speed I can still make some improvements. I’ve been training hard since October last year on those things.”
