Ajax has signed youth player Queensy Menig. The B1 youth international was born on August 19, 1995 in Amsterdam. The centre forward/winger, who has been playing in Ajax’s youth academy since the 2007-2008 season, signs a contract which is effective until June 30, 2015. The contract’s start date is July 1, 2012.
“Queensy is one of our shining stars”, says technical manager Wim Jonk. “He can play as a centre forward. This boy has a lot of potential. His speed and creativity make him an interesting player. He always creates opportunities. He still has a lot to learn, but has so much potential. If he keeps developing this way, we can enjoy him for a long time.”
Menig is also pleased with his first Ajax contract. “I’ve been with Ajax for five years, but this is what you look forward to during all that time. It’s a boy’s dream.” The forward has had a good season with B1. During the AEGON Future Cup, he was named best player of the tournament. “The Future Cup was great. I could measure myself against players from the top international clubs.”
Menig will join A1 in the new season. “Thanks to this contract, I have three years to show what I can do. When can I sign again? I don’t have a crystal ball”, he says with a smile. “But I hope that the opportunity follows quickly.”
