Ajax has signed three players from its own youth academy. Former juniors Danny Bakker (January 25 1995), Xavier Mous (August 4 1995) and Milan Vissie (May 1 1995) have reached an agreement with the club. They will be part of the Ajax Reserves during the coming season.
It will be the first contract for all of these players. The contracts all run for 2 years, until June 30, 2016. An option for an additional year for Ajax is included in all contracts, until June 30, 2017.
Milan Vissie (picture) is starting his third season with Ajax. Before that, he was playing for AZ. The defending midfielder wants to develop himself for the next two years with the Ajax Reserves. “I am calm with the ball, have a good pass and am someone who tries to help the entire team play better. It’s been said that I need some more venom in my game and need to coach more. That’s why it’s good to play Jupiler League games. There, you need to fight for each point, and work for the win.”
Xavier Mous is also part of the Ajax Reserves selection, but he’s with the first team at training camp in Austria right now. “That’s amazing”, says the keeper about his contract. “I’ve been with Ajax since I was ten, so this is what I’ve been working for. It was hard in the beginning, but I’ve been able to develop in the past years. And now I want to persevere. It’s a great reward. I’m going to give everything I’ve got for two years.”
Danny Bakker is a midfielder (both attacking and defending) and has a strong kick in his left leg. “This shows confidence”, says the player, who’s been playing with Ajax since E1. “It’s a reward for the hard work from the past few years. The Jupiler League will be a new challenge. I want to play as many games as possible for the Ajax Reserves, and I hope to have a shot at Ajax 1 in the future.”
Marc Overmars is happy to have secured the three players. The director of football affairs is hoping that the threesome will prove itself in the next two years. “It’s the first contract for these three guys. They’re at the age where it’s do or die. The next two years will show if they can really break through. They’ll need to convince Ajax Reserves coaches Andries Ulderink and Jaap Stam in each training, and each match.”
