Ajax has expanded its eSports team with the addition of Lev Vinken. The 17 year-old talent will join ABN AMRO’s talent program this coming year, will be loaned out for one season to Sparta Rotterdam, who he will represent in the eDivisie.
Menno Geelen, Ajax’s Commercial Director, on bringing Lev to Ajax: “Just like on the field, talent development is very important to us in eSports as well. Lev stood out at the Ziggo eBattle: The Qualifier, which we had organized with our main sponsor Ziggo in the ArenA. At this tournament, he was the best of the 256 fans, after which he was allowed to represent Ajax for one day at an international tournament. We’ll be working intensively with ABN AMRO around Lev in order to help him develop his talent. With our Toekomst Partner, we will guide him in various areas to ensure that he will ultimately be able to fully utilize his talent and make his ambitions come true. This is why we decided to loan him out to Sparta Rotterdam, to allow him to gain experience. Dani is playing for us in the eDivision and Lev will play for Sparta in the virtual Eredivisie.”
This is a dream come true for Lev: “I come from Amsterdam and have been an Ajacied since I was a kid. I even participated in several talent days at De Toekomst, but unfortunately I was never good enough on the field. But fortunately, with the controller, I am! I know that I still need to learn a lot and, to help me do that, I’ll be guided by Ajax, ABN AMRO and my management, Bundled. I’m looking forward to learning from Koen and Dani, who have already gained experience with Ajax, and I’m going to do everything I can to earn a spot next season with Ajax eSports. For the upcoming season, I’m very happy to be able to represent Sparta in the eDivisie.”
