After a goal-less first half, Ajax Cape Town came from one-nil down to beat their Cape Town rivals Santos 2-1 at Newlands Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The first-half was largely uneventful but, after ground staff had overcome partial floodlight failure at half-time and the game resumed, the match ignited in the second.
Santos' Jean-Marc Ithier struck for the visiting side in the 61st minute, but Ajax star Brent Carelse hit back just eight minutes later to level the scoring.
The goals added a welcome change of pace to the game and it was Ajax who adapted best. Their reward came in the 76th minute, when Josep Ngake added the finishing touches to a superb mid-field build up to give Ajax the lead.
The hosts held on ably until the final whistle.
