Ajax defeated RKC Waalwijk 4-1 in the Amsterdam Arena on Saturday evening. At halftime the score was 2-0. Through this result Ajax are the only team in Holland with a perfect record.
Maxwell opened the score for a strong Ajax in the 21st minute. The home side were much better than in the previous league matches, thanks mainly to the great form of Rafael van der Vaart. After playing well and scoring twice with the Dutch national team in the week before the match, he took his form with him to the ArenA and showed his Ajax teammates the way against RKC.
With a beautiful cross Van der Vaart set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic who headed in his first league goal of the season in the 27th minute. Many brilliant Van der Vaart-touches were to follow as Ajax controlled the midfield.
Tomás Galásek ended RKC's hopes with a spot kick shortly after halftime. RKC's Texeira was sent off minutes later with his second yellow card. Wesley Sonck was on target in the 77th minute with his first official goal for Ajax.
With the UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan on Tuesday in the back of their minds, Ajax then cruised to the end of the match. Boulahrouz managed to get a goal back for RKC, who were top of the league table before the match against Ajax.
