Ajax has won its first friendly game of the year by defeating Lyngby BK from Denmark. Hakim Ziyech (2), Donny van de Beek (2) and Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored for the Amsterdam team.
The kick off of Erik ten Hag’s first game as head coach was delayed by 45 minutes. After an issue with the referees had been solved, Huntelaar was able to kick off as 13:42 in the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira. Brand-new Ajacied Nico Tagliafico received a starting spot from coach Ten Hag. The Argentinian, with Joël Veltman, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong, was on defense.
Ziyech opened the score after 8 minutes; from outside the box, he curved the ball beautifully into the far corner. Several minutes later, Van Beek doubled the score. After a low shot by Justin Kluivert, the midfielder sent the 2-0 goal against the ropes.
Lyngby BK, where Lasse Schöne played in his younger years, got back into the game after half an hour thanks to a goal by Mayron George. But several minutes later, a great Ajax attack ended up with Huntelaar ensuring a comfortable margin (3-1).
