A nice moment for both Ajax and Hublot occurred on Friday afternoon when the contract was signed. Managing Director Ricardo Guadalupe spoke on behalf of the famed watch brand, emphasizing that the collaboration with Ajax is a great fit with Hublot’s strategy. The brand has a long history in international football.
Hublot started as sponsor for the Swiss football league, and then the UEFA, FIFA and Manchester United followed. The English heavyweight was interesting for Hublot due to the Asian market, where United is very active. “We are very proud to sponsor Ajax”, smiled Guadelupe. “Ajax is a legendary club and we want to work with legends. In its time, Hublot was the first luxury watch maker to be active in football.”
Ajax’s commercial director, Henri van der Aat, is pleased with Hublot as a sponsor: “We are very happy with the new contract with Hublot. We’re proud to be linked with yet another big A-brand for a longer period of time. Thanks to our collaboration, Hublot, as ‘official timekeeper’, will take care of the time keeping needs of the Amsterdam ArenA among others, and will be seen on the stadium screens. We also want to work with Schaap en Citroen, who are the ones who bring Hublot watches to the Dutch market. For example by developing Ajax watches. We want Hublot to be more than just a name on our sponsor board.”
