The managing boards of AFC Ajax and Amsterdam ArenA, represented by Maarten Fontein and Henk Markerink, have reached agreement about intensifying their current cooperation.
Both managing boards signed a new contract on Friday.
The new agreement has three goals:
1. Improving service to supporters
2. Raise revenues
3. Save costs
The agreement makes it possible to improve the result in commercial and operational areas as well as in the field of facilities and properties. Ticketing, sponsorship and merchandising are parts of the commercial areas. Cooperation in match preparation and execution will be among the operational spearheads. In facilities and properties, building maintenance and acquisition of products and services will receive the most attention. The rental agreement has been altered conform the market.
Managing director of Ajax Maarten Fontein is very pleased with the new agreement: ,,This is a good example of how to become stronger together and provide even better service to the stadium visitors. Amsterdam ArenA director Henk Markerink agrees with Fontein: ,,It has been clear that we wanted to intensify our bond for some time. Through an increased and closer cooperation, we are able to create a win-win situation in the area of cost reduction and the raising of revenues. And also for us an improvement of service for the supporters is an important issue.''
