Erik ten Hag and Matthijs de Ligt met the press on Thursday afternoon in Dubai. They looked ahead to Friday’s friendly game with Hossam Ghaly and Hossam El-Badry (coach) of Al-Ahly.
The players and coaches took their seats at a busy table. After that, De Ligt had the opened the floor: “It’s an honour to be here. We are enjoying ourselves and look forward to a great game tomorrow.”
Coach Ten Hag was positive, too. “It’s important to end the season on the right note. Also, this trip is good for the future, because we brought several younger players with us.”
“Where is Alfred Schreuder?” asked an attentive reporter. Ten Haag: “Alfred isn’t in Dubai. He has his farewell celebration at Hoffenheim this weekend, during the last round of play of the Bundesliga.”
'Know what matches against Ajax are like’
After the Ajacieds had spoken, it was time for Ghaly (36), former Feyenoord coach, to speak. “It’s not just a friendly match for me. As a Feyenoord player, I know what it’s like to play matches against Ajax. It’s going to be a derby.”
