The league match between Ajax and ADO Den Haag has been moved to Sautrday 7 January. The match will be played in the Amsterdam ArenA, with spectators. That is the result of a court case that Ajax had filed against the city of Amsterdam and the Football Association.
The match against ADO Den Haag was originally scheduled for Sunday 14 August, but was forbidden by mayor Job Cohen because of a lack of manpower in the Amsterdam police force.
The Dutch Football Association KNVB then ruled that the match had to be played on neutral grounds, without spectators. Ajax disagreed strongly and filed suit against the city and the KNVB. The club has the standpoint that football has to be played with spectators, and the outcome of the court case is in the best interest of the league, the the supporters and of Ajax, and therefore also of the KNVB.
