Ajax, AZ and Newcastle United have reached an agreement for the loan-out of Tim Krul to AZ. Last summer, Krul came to Ajax from Newcastle United on a loan-out basis. The initial agreement between Ajax, Newcastle United and Krul was for ten months, until June 30, 2017. The loan-out to AZ is effective immediately, and also ends on June 30, 2017.
Tim Krul was born on August 3, 1988, in The Hague. The keeper went to England at age 17. Last summer, Ajax loaned Krul out from Newcastle United, where he was recovering from ligament surgery. Since the keeper’s recovery, he’s played for the Ajax Reserves six times in the Jupiler League.
Marc Overmars, director of player policy: “Although we would love to have three Eredivisie-caliber keepers in our A-selection, I believe that this is the best for everyone. Newcastle wants him to get playing time, and, after his long recovery, Tim also wants to keep in high-level matches. Andre Onana has developed extremely well in the past few months, ensuring his spot in the goal. That was a difficult situation for Tim, although, thanks to his professional approach, we never noticed anything of this. It’s a shame that it turned out this way. We wish him much success in his career.”
