Ajax and Kaj Sierhuis have reached an agreement for the extension of his contract, which had been effective until June 30, 2019. The centre forward’s new agreement will be effective until June 30, 2021.
Sierhuis (Athens, April 27, 1998) has been playing in Ajax’s youth academy since 2009. On July 25, he made his debut in Ajax 1 during the home game against Sturm Graz (second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League). He’s played in 3 games to date in the first team. “I’m very proud to be signing my second contract. It’s a sign of confidence in me, and another opportunity to reach my goals.”
‘Scoring the winning goal in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, right in front of the F-Side; those are the dreams of a striker’
The youth international has played in 31 official games with the Ajax Reserves, scoring 20 goals. He won the 2017-2018 Jupiler League championship with the Ajax Reserves. “I’m in between the Ajax Reserves and Ajax 1 now. I need to play more in the first team, and slowly develop into a squad player. I still want to achieve so much: score with Ajax 1, and win a championship with Ajax 1, of course. Scoring the winning goal in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, right in front of the F-Side; those are the dreams of a striker.”
Eye for beautiful goals
He still needs to score that first goal with Ajax 1, but he has plenty of them to his name with the other teams. His goal for the Ajax Reserves last month against FC Dordrecht was a true beauty. But
his most famous one if the overhead kick with the U19s in the Youth League game against Beidablik. “That was my most beautiful goal: an artistic feat.”
