Peter Bosz to become Ajax’s new coach

Ajax, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Peter Bosz have reached an agreement for Bosz’s transfer to Ajax.  The coach has signed a contract for three seasons, starting on July 1, 2016, and ending on June 30, 2019.

Peter Bosz (Apeldoorn, 21 November 1963) will be the head coach of the first team.  The multi-faced Bosz’s active playing career consisted of several clubs in the Netherlands, France, Japan and Germany.  He played eight times for the Dutch national team.  As a head coach in professional football, he has been active for De Graafschap, Heracles Almelo, Vitesse and Maccabi Tel Aviv.  Bosz has also been a technical director with Feyenoord.

Director Edwin van der Sar: “We believe that, in Peter Bosz, we have brought in a coach who can make our talented selection even better.  The clubs where he has trained have always played technical and attacking football under him, and that definitely fits with Ajax.  Peter is experienced and has a clear vision.  We’re very pleased that he is coming to Ajax.”

Peter Bosz: “This is a great moment for me as a coach.  I’ve never hidden the fact that I wanted to work with a top Dutch team.  For that reason, I made sure that my contract with Maccabi included a special clause that made it possible for me to take this step.  It’s an honour that Ajax approached me for this job.  I’m extremely ambitious, and so is Ajax.  I knew this, of course, but it became even more apparent during the meetings we had.  I would have loved to leave Maccabi after winning the cup.  But it’s now time for holidays and after that, I’ll be able to start the job in Amsterdam with lots of energy.”

Assistant coach Hendrie Krüzen will also move from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Ajax.  Krüzen (Almelo. 24 November, 1964) has also signed on for three season, and has also worked as Peter Bosz’s assistant at Heracles Almelo an Vitesse.

The A selection starts training for the new season on Monday, June 27.
