At the end of the General Shareholders Meeting which took place on Friday afternoon in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Leo van Wijk announced his resignation as Chairman of the Board. Van Wijk will remain a member of the Board. The position of Chairman was handed over to Leen Meijaard, who is the new Chairman of the Board of AFC Ajax NV, effective immediately.
Leen Meijaard (Delft, May 25, 1961) has been a member of the Supervisory Board since April 14, 2016. Leo van Wijk became Chairman on the same day.

From 2002 to 2017, Leen Meijaard was employed at BlackRock. For with his last 10 years there, he was a member of the Board of Directors of BlackRock for Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Prior to that, he held positions at Robeco, Fidelity Investments, and the Ministry of Finance. He is currently a Board Member at Dutch Venture Initiative, an Advisory Board Member at Anthos, and an external advisor for the investment commission of the Graphische Bedrijfsfondsen Pension Fund.
