The management of AFC Ajax NV has called for a Special General Shareholders Meeting. The key item on this Meeting’s agenda will be the appointment of two members to the Supervisory Board of AFC Ajax NV.
They are Mr. Peter Mensing and Mr. Leen Meijaard. In accordance with the legal notice period of 42 days, the meeting will be held on April 14, 2016. Ajax’s Works Council has communicated that this recommendation is satisfactory and that it does not have other candidates to propose for these two vacancies.
Leen Meijaard (born May 25, 1961, in Delft) worked as an economist at the Ministry of Finance in the nineties. Following that, he held functions at Robeco Groep, Fidelity Investments and New Flag Asset Management. He held the position of Managing Director at Merrill Lynch from 2002 to 2006, after which he joined the Board of Directors at BlackRock for Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Mr. Meijaard is still active at BlackRock in the role of Managing Director.
Peter Mensing (born March 12, 1960, in Amsterdam) was employed at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1984-2008, in the roles of consultant, Vice President and Senior Vice President, respectively. Following this, he was Senior Vice President at Booz & Company for seven years. He is currently active in the role of Senior Advisor at PwC and at Bregal Freshstream. Mensing is currently linked to Ksyos, Lunchgarden and Vascobelo as a director. He is also a member of the Advisory Board at Ziggo as well as at the Dutch Bar Association, chairman of the Theatre Fund Foundation and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mr. Mensing and Mr. Meijaard will be presented to Ajax’s Supervisory Board as the successors of Dolf Collee and Supervisory Board chairman Hans Wijers. Mr. Collee stepped down on September 6, 2015, due to his appointment as General Manager. Mr. Wijers announced his departure on October 19, 2015, and he will step down at the upcoming meeting. Fellow commissioner Leo van Wijn has expressed his willingness to take over the role of chairman. The appointments of Mensing and Meijaard completes the Supervisory Board, which also includes Leo van Wijk, Theo van Duivenbode and Ernst Ligthart,.
