Bosz: ‘Proud of the guys’

Peter Bosz was extremely pleased at the post Standard Liège – Ajax game press conference.  The barometer was finally in the positive.  “Of course that late goal is disappointing, but I’m proud of how the team played.”

The young Ajax team was in control for most of the game.  Standard’s defensive approach surprised Bosz.  “I had expected more offensive pressure from them, because they needed to win, but that only happened in the last ten minutes.  That’s when they applied pressure.  But at that moment, we had already decided the game.”

In Liège, Bosz got the confirmation that his team has a lot of potential.  “Diederik Boer is 36 years old.  If you don’t factor him in, we played with a team with an average age of under twenty.  Eight guys from our academy as well, which is something that the club should be proud of.”

The coach was also proud of Ajax’s performances – they are undefeated in European games.  “All in all, we can be happy.  We won many points, and it’s good for Dutch football, too.”
