Peter Bosz will return to familiar ground on Sunday. Ajax’s current coach was in charge at Vitesse for two and a half years as of the summer of 2013.
Bosz coached his last match in the Gelredome on December 18, 2015, when Vitesse defeated FC Twente by 5-1. As the coach of the visiting team, he was somewhat less successful in Arhem. At the coach of Heracels, he didn’t win a single Eredivisie match at Vitese (G2, V3).
Fortunately, statistics don’t offer any guarantees. Also, the current Vitesse coach, and former team mate at Feyenoord, Henk Fraser, has a mediocre track record against Ajax. The former defender hasn’t won a single one of his six competition games against Ajax as a coach (G1-V5). His teams – Vitesse now, and previously ADO Den Haag – didn’t manage to score in their last four games against Ajax.
Bertrand Traoré, just like Bosz, has a history with Vitesse. The forward from Burkina Faso played in a total of 42 competition goals and scored sixteen goals for the Eredivisie’s currently seventh ranked team.
