Ajax and former chairman John Jaakke are satisfied with the press release below, that was issued by the Public Prosecutor.
In an investigation into unlawful computer entry with the former Ajax chairman, the police have searched a house in Zoetermeer. The police have seized computers.
The inhabitant of the house in Zoetermeer has made a statement. To check his story, the police, together with a public prosecutor from Amsterdam, have visited the man's employer, where he works as an editor. The log records of the man on the server have been requested and his work station was seized.
The investigation into unlawful computer entry was started when the former Ajax chairman filed a complaint in May of 2008. His personal email address was allegded to have been broken into and sensitive information was reportedly stolen. These records, such as concept press releases and information about the 'Coronel-report', were subsequently made public.
Because this was very sensitive information about the future of Ajax, the club started an investigation that was later continued by the police. This investigation led to the searrch of the house in Zoetermeer today. The seized computers will be examined by the police. (end)
Ajax and John Jaakke were informed by the Justice Department, that the suspicion of computer fraud has been confirmed. The club and the former chairman are shocked that it concerns an editor, but are happy that the trust in the own organisation has again been confirmed. Ajax are also very pleased that the allegations against the people concerned and especially John Jaakke have been proven false.
John Jaakke: ,,I filed a complaint in May of 2008 because I was convinced that the information was stolen from my computer. I am very happy that this now has been proven.''
Uri Coronel: ,,I never doubted the integrity of the members of the committee and others involved. I am pleased with the confirmation of that trust.''
