Kuffour signed a contract for six months in January. The Ghanese defender joined Ajax on a free transfer from AS Roma. Ajax had a clause in the contract to keep him for two more seasons, but did not pick up that option.

The 31-year-old Kuffour made his debut for Ajax 1 in the home match against Excelsior (4-0) on 2 March. In that same month he also made a brief appearance against sc Heerenveen.
