Ajax have reached agreement with Siem de Jong about the extension of his contract that ran to 1 July 2010. The midfielder signed a new deal that runs from 1 July 2008 to 1 July 2013.

De Jong joined Ajax's youth academy in August of 2005. The midfielder played in the youth of De Graafschap before that. He made his debut for Ajax 1 on 26 September 2007 in the Cup match Kozakken Boys - Ajax (1-2). De Jong, born in Swiss town Aigle, scored his first goal in his first league match in the away match at Sparta. De Jong also scored in the away match at Feyenoord. He has now played 13 matches in the first team.
