Ajax and Newcastle United have reached agreement about the immediate transfer of Spanish player Albert Luque Martos.
Luque was born in Spain on 11 March 1978 and started his career in the youth academy of FC Barcelona. In 1998 he joined Real Mallorca, the season after that he played on loan for Málaga CF. In 2002 he made his debut for Spain, where he has earned 17 caps. He was in the Spanish squad for the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. Luque joined Deportivo La Coruña in 2002. He played 101 matches in the Primera División for that club and scored 26 goals. Luque joined Newcastle United in 2005.
