Ryan Babel joins Liverpool FC

Ajax and Liverpool have reached agreement about the transfer of Ryan Babel to the English club. The transfer fee was set at 17 million euros. The forward, who had a contract with Ajax to 1 July 2010, signs a five-year deal with Liverpool FC.
Babel (born 19 December 1986) finished the Ajax youth academy and made his debut for the first team on 1 February 2004 in the match Ajax - ADO Den Haag (4-0). The forward played 111 matches for the Amsterdam club in which he scored 24 goals. Babel captured the national championship with Ajax in 2004, as well as winning two Dutch FA Cups and two Johan Cruijff Shields.

In February of 2005, Ryan Babel made his debut for Holland in the away match in Romania; he immediately scored his first international goal. Babel has earned 14 caps and has scored four goals for Holland.

Babel won the European title with Holland Under 21 last month.
