Ajax have the option of extending the agreement with another two years.

The Belgian midfielder was born on 21 July 1979 in Leuven, Belgium. At age 19 Delorge was signed by AA Gent. From 1998 he played for Coventry City, Lierse SK and Anderlecht, after which he joined ADO Den Haag. Delorge played 28 matches for the club from The Hague, scoring 5 goals.

Delorge flashed a big smile after he had signed his contract. ,,I worked very hard for this, but at the same time I could never have thought that I would get to play for Ajax'', the Belgian said. ,,I hope to adjust quickly to the higher level here.''

The midfielder's transfer was arranged quickly. Within ten days Delorge went from being a player of relegated side ADO Den Haag to Ajax player. ,,Things hcan happen fast in football'', Delorge said. ,,I think that Ajax watch players all the time and know who could be assets to the team. But I understand this is not a logical step, from a relegated club to a top club. However, it was always my goal and I am happy with the chance I have been given. I am also grateful for the opportunity that ADO have given me to develop and to show myself in the Dutch Premier League.''

,,Now I am a plyer of a top club'', the midfielder said. Delorge is obviously going to prepare for his first season in Amsterdam, but he is also going to rest after a tumultuous season in The Hague. ,,It was a difficult season, with a lot of negativity. Relegating is mentally hard as well. So now I am going to rest up a bit, but I realize that the preparation for the new season starts now. I will make sure that I am very fit when we start, because I know how important it is to get through the preseason without injuries.''
