Jan Olde Riekerink head of youth development

Jan Olde Riekerink will be the new head of youth development of Ajax from 1 July. He will sign a contract for an indefinite period and succeeds John van den Brom, who will be the head coach of AGOVV next season.
As Ajax's head of youth development, Olde Riekerink will be responsible of the continuity of the policy on youth complex 'De Toekomst'. Within this policy is amongst other things managing the coaching staff of the youth academy and guarding the Ajax playing style.

Jan Olde Riekerink (44) began his career as a coach with Ajax. After an internship with the A1-juniors, he coached a number of youth teams, respectively the D1, D2, B2 and A1. In the 1999-2000 season, Olde Riekerink worked as an assistant coach to Jan Wouters with the first team, after which he became head coach of Young Ajax.

In his first year as coach of the reserve team (2000-2001), Olde Riekerink won the national title with the team. He even reached the semifinal of the Dutch FA Cup with Ajax 2 the season after. In May of 2002, Olde Riekerink was appointed head coach of Belgian premier-league side AA Gand, after which he joined Emmen as coach at the end of 2003.

Olde Riekerink was assistent-coach to Co Adriaanse at FC Porto last season. He currently works as an assistant to Adriaanse at Metallurg Donetsk in the Ukraine.

As a player, Olde Riekerink can also look back on a long career. He made his professional debut at age 20 for Sparta, where he stayed for five seasons. In 1990, he transferred to Dordrecht. Jan Olde Riekerink finished his active career with Telstar in Velsen.
