After being up 3-0 halfway through the match, Ajax defeated Norwegian side IK Start by 4-0 to go through to the group stage of the UEFA Cup. See the match photos here.

More than two years after his European debut, as a substitute against Juventus, Tom de Mul played in another European Cup match. He provided some good crosses, but they were not finished.
Markus Rosenberg scored two good goals against IK Start.
His two goals against NEC did not go unnoticed. Kenneth Perez played the full 90 minutes against IK Start. This time though, no goals but two assists.
Zdenek Grygera makes it 3-0 with a gorgeous strike.
In the second half, Kenneth Vermeer replaced Dennis Gentenaar. It was his official debut in Ajax 1.
Ryan Babel stole the ball from a Start defender and made it 4-0 in the second half.
Edgar Manucharyan came on for Tom de Mul late in the second half.
Olaf Lindenbergh played a solid match in Ajax's midfield.
