Stekelenburg out of action for two months

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg will be out of action for the next two months. Stekelenburg complained about pain in his wrist and was taken to hospital for X-rays. They showed that the goalie had fractured a bone in his lower hand.

Maarten Stekelenburg will now miss the away match against Excelsior Rotterdam, Ajax's last before the winter break. Australian goalkeeper Joey Didulica will probably replace Stekelenburg.

Ajax will play Excelsior on Sunday at 14.30 pm. Striker Mido (flu) and defender Andre Bergdolmo (back injury) are doubtful for the match. Coach Ronald Koeman can definitely not field Jari Litmanen, Rafael van der Vaart, Hatem Trabelsi, Cristian Chivu, John O'Brien, Johnny Heitinga, Jelle van Damme, Yakubu and Victor Sikora. All suffer from various injuries.
