Richard Knopper on loan to SC Heerenveen

Richard Knopper will play for SC Heerenveen next season. Ajax and Heerenveen have reached agreement about hiring out Knopper for one season. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

Last season Richard Knopper played on loan at Aris Saloniki in the Greek first division. With Aris he reached the Greek Cup Final, which PAOK Saloniki won by 1-0.

Former Ajax's coach Morton Olsen let Richard Knopper make his debut for Ajax 1 in the match against Sparta on November 9 1997. Knopper has played 66 league matches for Ajax and scored 19 times. He also played three Amstel Cup finals, which Ajax won in 1998, 1999 and 2002.
With Ajax, Richard Knopper won the national titles with both the first team (1998, 2002) and the second team in 2002.

Richard Knopper played 16 matches with Holland's national youth teams. He scored six goals in those matches.

In 1999 the Ajax supporters chose Knopper as Ajax's Most Promising Player, he received the Marco van Basten trophy.

SC Heerenveen finished in seventh place in the Holland Casino Eredivisie this year.
