Petri Pasanen moves to Portsmouth for remainder of season

Ajax have reached agreement with Portsmouth about the loan of Petri Pasanen. The Finnish international will play the reaminder of the season for the current number 16 of the English Premiership. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

When all formalities have been fulfilled, Pasanen could make his debut for Portsmouth in the away match against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Petri Pasanen came to Amsterdam on 1 August 2000. He made his debut for the first team in the away match against AZ on 17 September 2000. He won the national title with Ajax's second team in his first season in Amsterdam.

Due to a serious injury, Pasanen played only 1 league match in the 2001-2002 season. He subsequently grew to become a mainstay in Finland's national squad (he has earned 17 caps so far), but saw his playing time at Ajax reduced, mainly due to the return of Johnny Heitinga.

Petri Pasanen's contract with Ajax runs to 30 June 2005.
