Ajax's Egyptian striker Mido has been short-listed in the election of African footballer of the year for 2002. The list has been reduced to three players. In March the final decision will be made.
Mido competes for the honour with two players from Senegal: Moustapha El-Hadji Diouf (Liverpool) and Papa Bouba Diop (RC Lens).
Diouf was chosen the best players of the African continent last year.
Hatem Trabelsi was also nominated, but the Ajax defender from Tunisia finished as the number seven on the list.
