Koeman chooses Maarten Stekelenburg

Ronald Koeman has appointed Maarten Stekelenburg as first goalkeeper for the upcoming season. The young goalie was earlier this week also preselected for the Dutch national team. Bogdan Lobont will have to take a place on the bench.

Maarten Stekelenburg will be 22 years old next month. The young goalkeeper from Haarlem was close to starting last season, but lost out to Lobont.

Stekelenburg made his debut for Ajax in the match for the Johan Cruijff Shield two seasons ago. Ajax won that match 3-1. In the 2002-2003 season he replaced Lobont who was out with a shoulder injury for the first half of the season.
