Keizer not counting on an exodus

At the weekly press conference, not a single question was asked about Ajax’s game against FC Groningen this coming Sunday in the ArenA.  All of the reporters were curious about Davinson Sánchez’s potential departure, as well as any transfers of reinforcements to Amsterdam.  “It looks like Sánchez will leave, but I’m assuming that everyone else will stay.”

As expected, the press conference started with questions about the Colombian defender’s status.  “I haven’t heard anything since last night, so the negotiations are most likely still ongoing”, said Keizer, who was also asked if he was fed up with questions about Sánchez.  “I’m fed up with not winning.  Of course we’d rather have clarity around my players, but that’s no excuse.”

Keeping the group together
On Thursday evening, Hakim Ziyech told the Ziggo Sport cameras that Ajax needs reinforcements.  Keizer: “Players can always say things after a game, and I’m not going to address every statement made by players.  I know what we’ve discussed internally and it’s no news that we would like some reinforcements.  But these things can take time.”

“I want to keep the group together, but if a big club comes along offering a lot of money, then the player will have a say as well”, continues Keizer.  “It looks like Sánchez will leave, but I’m assuming that everyone else will stay.”
