Jairo Riedewald leaves Ajax for Crystal Palace

Ajax, Crystal Palace and Jairo Riedewald have reached an agreement for the player’s transfer to the English club.  The defender had been under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2020.

Riedewald was born on September 9, 1996, in Haarlem.  The left-footed player has been playing in Ajax’s youth academy since 2007.  He made his debut in the first team on December 19, 2013, in the IJsselmeervogels – Ajax (0-3) cup game.  Riedewald has played in a total of 93 official games in Ajax’s first team, and has scored three goals.  He won the national championship with Ajax in 2014.

Dream debut
In London, Riedewald will be reunited with Frank de Boer, the trainer who gave him his debut in Ajax 1.  Many an Ajax fan will remember his first Eredivisie minutes.  At JC Roda, Riedewald came in as a substituted ten minutes before the end of the game, down 1-0.  Riedewald scored two goals and gave Ajax the win.
