Henk ten Cate new head coach Ajax

Ajax have appointed Henk ten Cate as the new head coach. Ten Cate replaces Danny Blind, with whom Ajax recently parted ways. He signs a contract for the duration of two years, to July 2008.

Henk ten Cate (51) has been assistant coach to Frank Rijkaard at FC Barcelona since the 2003-2004 season. Under their guidance the club won two consecutive titles in Spain and recently the Champions League. The Amsterdam-born Ten Cate also achieved some successes in Holland. NAC Breda, after years of absence, qualified for European football with Ten Cate at the helm. With Vitesse, he reached the club's highest ranking ever (third) and did so with attractive football. He also guided Sparta to the final of the Dutch Cup. In 2000, Henk ten Cate won Hungary's national Cup with MTK Budapest.
