Galásek and Grygera also exit in Portugal

The Czech Republic did not succeed in reaching the final of Euro 2004 in Portugal. In the semi-final Greece surpised the team in which Tomás Galásek and Zdenek Grygera were in the starting line-up by scoring the only goal right at the end of the first overtime. All the Ajax players have now been ejected from the tournament.

Greece completed the sensation Thursday by qualifying for the final of Euro 2004, in which they face hosts Portugal. Defender Dellas made the silver goal in extra time: 1-0.

The final will be a reprisal of the opening match of the tournament, in which Greece unexpectedly defeated Portugal 2-1. In the quarter final Greece seemed to do the impossible by eliminating favourites France.

The Czech Rpeublic saw playmaker Nedved going off injured in the first half. The team of Galásek and Grygera had won all previous matches, but was only visibly better in the opening stages of the match.

Only in the closing minutes the Czechs had the upper hand again. After a combination with Rosicky Koller had a good opportunity, but the striker missed. Later Baros freed himself, but he missed the goal by inches. An overtime period was necessary and it all went downhill from there for Galásek and Grygera. With the Czech Republic the last Ajax players left the stage of Euro 2004.
