In an entertaining cup match, in which Ajax created numerous chances, the Amsterdam team deeated FC Utrecht by 2-0. Luis Suarez scored a beauty and Klaas Jan Huntelaar signed for the decisive goal.

After 15 minutes, the Ajax machine went to full speed. With Gregory van der Wiel on the position of Oleguer, Eyong Enoh as Evander Sno's replacement, Siem de Jong instead of the injured Sulejmani and Bruno Silva as right back, the home side was running on all cylinders. Especially midfielders Jan Vertonghen and Enoh, who made his home debut, were a feast for the eye.

It did not show that Enoh had had only one week of training with Ajax 1. He had already made a good turn as a substitute against Feyenoord, thus keeping Evander Sno on the bench in this Cup match. Coach Marco van Basten had also enjoyed his latest signing. ,,Enoh has played well, especially considering that he joined us straight from the South African league. He has a great mentality and is a fine acquisition. We are very happy with him."

But he wasn't the only one. Ajax played a fine match in the ArenA. The team created many chances. ,,Unfortunately it took us seventy minutes to score", said Van Basten. ,,But we can look back on a very good match in which we dominated for ninety minutes and had many chances."

It was Utrecht goalkeeper Michel Vorm who kept his team in the race. He was especially good against Klaas Jan Huntelaar. He even saved a penalty kick by the Ajax captain. Luis Suarez finally beat Vorm, a minute later. He gave Ajax the lead with a beautiful strike.

In the 87th minute, Huntelaar did score his 100th Ajax goal, from a cross by Suarez: 2-0. ,,We looked like we had fun", Van Basten said. ,,I enjoyed the team and the atmosphere in the stadium."
