Edgar Manucharyan signs three-year deal with Ajax

Ajax have reached agreement with Pyunik FC about the transfer of Edgar Manucharyan. The Armenian forward signed for three years with the club from Amsterdam. His contract will run from 1 July 2005.

Manucharyan was on trial in Amsterdam in December of 2004. The forward took part in the friendly match against FC Barcelona on 14 December. In that match he played only 14 minutes, after which he had to be taken off with a foot injury, forcing the trial period to be terminated.

Manucharyan (18), who plays for Armenian champion Pyunik FC and the Armenian national team, remained in Amsterdam for rehab and has recovered from his injury. Manucharyan will join Ajax's first team in July 2005, when the squad will start preparations for the 2005-2006 season.
