Ajax will bid farewell to Siem de Jong on Sunday, August 24, after the Ajax – PSV competition match. The 25-year old midfielder will be honoured on the field directly following the top match in the Amsterdam ArenA.
Siem de Jong left Ajax during the 2014-2015 pre-season for Newcastle United in England. De Jong went through a part of Ajax’s youth academy and made his official Ajax debut on September 26, 2007, during the KNVB Cup match against Kozakken Boys (1-2 win). The multifunctional Ajax player was in a total of 244 official matches for Ajax 1, wherein he scored 78 goals.
De Jong won the KNVB Cup in 2010 with Ajax. He won the national championship four times with Ajax (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014), and he won the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2013.
