Cosmos score first win

Jomo Cosmos finally registered their first Castle Premiership win of the season when they beat Ajax Cape Town at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.

Despite the win, Ezenkhosi are still rooted to the bottom of the table, with eight points from their nine games.

Hero of the day for the Gauteng side was Chris Katongo, who netted a brace.

His first goal came in the 19th minute when he slotted the ball past Moeneeb Josephs after being released by Helton Cunha.

The Urban Warriors got themselves back into the game in the 36th minute when Brent Carelse scored from close range after receiving a pass from Shane Poggenpoel.

The Cape side enjoyed most of the play in the second half, but were frustrated by some determined defence from the hosts.

Against the run of play in the 90th minute, Cosmos went on a counter attack and Katongo netted his second to hand Jomo Sono his first league win of the season.

Ajax remain in sixth place with 14 points from their nine games.
