Ajax has reached an agreement with Bertrand Traoré and Chelsea FC. The forward has been loaned out from the English Club, where he is currently under contract. The loan out deal will be effective for one season, until June 30, 2017.
Traoré was born on September 6, 1995, in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The international has played at Vitesse from January 2014 to June 2015 on a loan out basis.
Sporting Director Marc Overmars: “I´ve been working on Traoré for about one year. We were looking for a centre forward who could get in there and start playing immediately and who would be an asset for Ajax right away. We´ve achieved that by loaning out Traoré. Buying a centre forward and offering him a long-term contract would get in the way of the development of other centre forwards. Kasper Dolberg and Mateo Cassierra are both under twenty years old, and we have high expectations from them going forward. But we can´t expect for them to already be able to go for the whole season. In fact, this is exactly what we were looking for, and now it´s up to Traoré to show that this was the right move for Ajax, for Chelsea, and for himself. He has many qualities. He´s fast, focused and it´s a big advantage that he´s familiar with the Dutch competition. Peter Bosz´s presence was a plus for him, they worked very well together at Vitesse. In the past few days, we´ve managed to finalize all of the paperwork in time, and he will therefore be able to play on Tuesday in that important home match against Rostov. He also had some playing time in the pre-season at Chelsea, so he´s fit to play. We´re very happy with that, too.”
