André Bergdølmo transfers to Borussia Dortmund

Ajax and Borussia Dortmund have reached agrement about the immediate transfer of André Bergdølmo. The Norwegian international has also reached a personal agreement with the club from the German Bundesliga. As usual, Ajax do not disclose financial details of the agreement.

Ajax's managing director Arie van Eijden is happy for Bergdølmo. Van Eijden: "Ajax have cooperated with his transfer. The competition for his position with Ajax was great and for André a transfer was the best solution. André was always a correct and good guy for Ajax. We are happy that he can now play in the Bundesliga."

André Bergdølmo came to Ajax from Rosenborg BK in 2000. He made his debut in the league match against Fortuna Sittard on August 22 of that year. With Ajax, Bergdølmo won the Dutch championship, the Amstel Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2002. Those achievements earned him the title of player of the year in Norway.

Bergdølmo was Ajax's specialist for converting penalty kicks. His spot kick in the home match against Feyenoord on March 3, 2002 was the 5000th official goal of Ajax since the inception of the Eredivisie in the 1956-1957 season.

André Bergdølmo scored 6 goals for Ajax in 66 league matches. In total he played 90 official matches for Ajax, in which he scored 10 times. As a Norwegian international he has yet to score, but he has earned 48 caps so far.

Borussia Dortmund started the season in the Bundesliga last weekend with a 2-2 draw at Schalke 04. Last season Dortmund finished third in Germany. The club plays, like Ajax, in the third preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League.
