As Ajax's vice-captain André Bergdølmo had a busy year. He is one of the Ajax players who have played almost thirty matches in the new season alone. The defender returns to Norway for the holidays.
Where are you at Christmas and/or New Year’s Eve?
,,I spend the holidays in Norway. I live in Sørumsand, near Oslo. I’ll celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve with my wife, two kids, sister and mother. Just relax. On Christmas Eve we have a family dinner. We’ll drink a cup of coffee at five o’clock and unwrap the presents. On Christmas Day we brunch with the family. I also spend the Christmas days with my friends.’’
What was the most important in 2002?
,,I have been counting and I think we won quite a few prizes in 2002. The Amsterdam Tournament, the Dutch Super Cup, the cup, the national championship and we qualified for the second round of the Champions League.’’
It was a year full of ups and downs for me. In the beginning of the season I was benched for four matches. That was just a warning from the coach. I had to be sharper. Against Rosenborg I played again and since then it goes better every match.’’
Your expectations for 2003?
,,We are definitely going to win a prize. As a team we are better than PSV. We seemed tired in the home match against them, but I cannot exactly say why that was. But you don’t qualify for the Champions League against PSV. You have to do it against the other teams. PSV will waist points too.’’
With whom would you like to drink champagne?
,,Of course with my wife. I haven’t seen her for a week. If I have to pick a celebrity, then I would like to have a glass of champagne with the king of Norway. I have briefly talked to him twice, but never really in private.’’
