Amsterdam leaves its mark on Josephs

Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs had a fantastic time in Amsterdam while on trial with Dutch giants Ajax and hopes to have done enough to secure a contract with the former European champions.

Josephs arrived back in South Africa from Holland on Monday morning and is pleased with his performance at the Amsterdam ArenA.

"The place was just amazing," an excited Josephs exclaimed. "Our set-up at Ikamva is good but the Arena is like another world. Everything you need is at their training ground.

"I felt welcome from my first day there and I picked up on new techniques with goalkeeper coach Wil Coort.

"The guys are there are very professional despite their age - most of them are teenagers, but their attitudes suggest they are mature beyond there years.

Josephs said he spent time with former Urban Warriors star Steven Pienaar who is still nursing an injury.

"Steven showed me around town. It was great getting to see Amsterdam and experiencing the culture of the people there, although it was for a very short time it's an experience I won't forget," said Jospehs.

"I had the pleasure of watching the first team beat PSV 2-1. It was a really good game and the atmosphere was absolutely incredible!"

Josephs though remains realistic about a move to the 1995 Champions League winners.

"I can't talk about joining them yet as I want to concentrate on winning the league here at home," he revealed.

"I think I did well and they were pleased with me too, but in time I'll know the outcome of my actions. I'm not going to think of it too much though."
